As part of the Canadian Disability Coalition Leadership Group, CASDA has done the following related to COVID-19 pandemic response:
March 24, 2020 – Sent recommendations to support people with disabilities to Minister Qualtrough signed by 34 organizations.
April 9, 2020 – Drafted a letter writing campaign launched to Government of Canada and all provincial and territorial governments presenting guidelines for protecting the rights of people with disabilities to access health services re: COVID-19.
April 10, 2020 – As a response, Minister Qualtrough releases a statement recognizing the needs of people with disabilities, and announces the formation of a COVID-19 Disability Advisory Group.
April 20, 2020 – CASDA is now starting to lead a coordinated data strategy for organizations on the Disability Coalition Leadership Group.
