Canadian parents frustrated with lack of autism support seek solutions in the U.S. – CTVNews

On June 12, 2021, CASDA’s Director of Scientific and Data Initiatives, Dr. Deepa Singal, was interviewed by Heather Butts on CTV National News on the challenges families face in accessing services across Canada.

Discrepancies between provincial policies and support services often result in families moving across the border to seek better health services.

“It is a really common story, and that’s a result of fragmented and inequitable service delivery,” says Dr. Singal to CTV National News. “Moving to a province with better support could mean the difference of a nonverbal child saying, ‘mommy’ or ‘daddy’ one day.”
